Are Your Food Habits Affecting Your Business?

I work primarily with entrepreneurs and one of the top three complaints I hear from there is that they have no energy. They know their businesses can be so much more profitable, and they themselves would be more visible, if they could just get through the day without needing a nap or the entire pot of coffee.

They feel like shit all the time and know that there has to be more to life than slogging away all day and crashing on the sofa from exhaustion at night (and then not sleeping all night long, furthering the exhaustion cycle). And this exhaustion leads to not having enough energy to really push through and get those sales in the door.

The most common food habits I see that are affecting my clients businesses are:

  1. Missing meals – for most of my clients that’s usually breakfast. They get up, have their coffee, then off to work. They don’t eat a full meal until maybe around 2.00pm, and by then they’re full out exhausted but don’t understand why.
  2. Eating non-foods – this means eating foods that provide little or no nutritious value when they do eat. For my clients it’s usually Starbucks something-or-other, or some other quick grab and go snack from a fast food place, a bowl of cereal, or a small tub of fat-free yogurt. Lunch also consists of a dunkin donut and pepperoni bread (whatever that is…)*.
  3. Eating mostly carbs all day – even people who are healthy can fall into this trap. This person’s food day looks like: cereal or oats in the morning with fruit, chicken & rice for lunch, a banana for snack and then waffles, berries and syrup for dinner*. On first glance it doesn’t looks too bad, at least there’s no McDonald’s items, but it’s missing some key nutrients: fat and protein.

To have the energy it takes to run a successful business, your food intake must match your output.

By eating frequently throughout the day (think: breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner) you’ll fuel yourself all day. Choosing mostly fresh, homemade foods over take-away or packaged foods, good quality proteins like nuts, seeds, eggs and fish and healthy fats like avocado, olives, butter, and cheese will not only fuel you but you’ll be amazed how the more you eat, the more weight you’ll lose.

My clients average a 20-30lb weight loss in the first 3-4 months of working with me, without omitting a single thing from their diets – they do this by adding more whole, nutritious food. They also sleep better, have loads more energy and watch in amazement as their business revenue doubles.

You may think that you need to wait until you’re successful before having the time (or money) to make this kind of change but the truth is that it’s so easy and affordable to change up a couple things here and there and start to see results immediately.

One of the ways you can do this is by grabbing my 7 Ways to look younger, feel better and live healthier series, where you will get one tip every day over 7 days that you can start incorporating now without needing a massive diet and lifestyle overhaul. Click the image below to grab it now.
